Lexie Anna Heger, age 88 of Randolph, died Thursday June 2, 2016 at Osmond General Hospital in Osmond, NE. She was born March 23, 1928 at Randolph, Nebraska the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Thelen) Kessler. She Graduated from St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic High School in 1945; Graduated from Wayne State Teachers College with a degree in teaching.

On June 5, 1956 Lexie married Leonard Martin Heger at St. Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph. Lexie taught school at area country schools for 11 years. The couple lived on farms all their married lives, the first farm was near Hartington and then farming near Coleridge and eventually settling on a farm outside of Randolph. On September 11, 1962 they adopted their daughter Sharon and on April 12, 1965 they adopted their son Michael which completed their family.

She never met a stranger; she was loved by everyone in which she came in contact. Lexie loved her family, friends, her church, baking, cooking, gardening, farming, square dancing, volunteering, reading and playing scrabble. She was active in church and lived her life with strong faith in our Lord.

Lexie was involved in many things and was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph; Christian Mothers; a church Lector; EMHC; Past President of Northeast Deanery; Parish Council of Catholic Women; Assisted in G.E.D. education through the literacy council through Northeast Community College; St. Frances Quilting group; Ministry of Praise; for 20 years led a faith sharing group; 2007 received Outstanding Ministry Award for Adult Faith Formation from Archbishop Eldon Curtis; she was a 3+ gallon American Red Cross blood donor; visited the sick well known for bringing them a loaf of bread; Lexie's care extended beyond her parish boundaries through financial and prayer support and activity for Native American, Appalachian, and foreign missions.

Surviving Lexie are her 2 children Sharon and Renan Cardenas of North Richland Hills, TX; Mike and Peggy Heger of Randolph; 7 Grandchildren Gabriel, Adam Wilkey and Dillon Cardenas of North Richland Hills, TX and Mari-Kathrin and Titus Kirby of Haltom City, TX; Jennifer and Brian Prothman of David City, NE; Curtis and Marganna Lukert of David City, NE; Nicholas and Kylie Lukert of Ulysses, NE; 8 Great Grandchildren; 1 Sister Marilyn Eickhoff of Chino Hills, CA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lexie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard on June 7, 1998; 2 brothers Edwin and Alvin Kessler; 3 sisters Ileen Schutt, Marjorie Kavanaugh, Dorothy Schlichting.
