Sylvia J. Abell, age 83 of Cedar Bluffs, died Sunday September 27, 2009 at the Stanton Health Center in Stanton. She was born December 9, 1925 in Stanton County, Nebraska the daughter of Albert and Amelia (Meyer) Heller and graduated from Stanton High School in 1943. She attended X-Ray Technician school at Creighton University in Omaha and was trained at St. Joseph's in Omaha.
Sylvia married Vernon William Matteson at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE. She worked as an X-Ray Technician at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. In 1972 she married Paul Kenneth Abell at St. James Lutheran Church in Omaha.
Her favorite past times included; reading, traveling, gardening, researching family history and spending time outdoors.
She is survived by her two sons Kim Matteson of Cedar Bluffs NE, Barry and (Trish) Matteson of Loveland, CO, and her stepson Bill and (Betty) Abell of Colorado Springs, CO, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her extended family.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her brother and sister, late husbands and stepson Bob Abell.
She was a caring, giving and wonderful mother and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
