Peggy C. Hines, age 69 of Pilger, died Friday September 4, 2009 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. She was born September 28, 1939 at Cartersville, Georgia the daughter of Rosario and Zora (Cowart) Cassar. She attended grade school in Detroit, Michigan and Marietta, Georgia public schools.
Peggy left school to help her mother raise her siblings for a time, she married Walter Samuel Howard, Jr. on August 15, 1958 at Augusta, Georgia, Peggy worked as a manager at Morgan's Dry Cleaning and Laundry in Augusta, Georgia for 40 years, the couple divorced in 1974. Peggy married William Sheldon Hines November 28, 1976 at Augusta, Georgia where they continued to live, she retired in February 1999 and the couple moved to Pilger. Peggy's hobbies, when she was younger, include horseback riding and walking and later in life she loved to shop.
Peggy is survived by her husband William Hines; 2 children Barbara and Robert Ellenberger of Madison; Marvin and Rebecca Howard of Harrisonburg, VA; 6 Grandchildren; 2 Step Grandchildren; 1 Great Grandson; 1 Sister Nancy and Talmedge Wiley of Temple, GA; 1 Brother Richard and Suzanne Cassar of Alabama; 1 half-sister JoAnn and Charlie Davis of LaGrange, GA
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter Cassie Elizabeth, 1 son Walter Samuel Howard III.
