Ruby L. Benson, age 85 of Stanton, died Sunday August 9, 2009 at Stanton Health Center in Stanton. She was born January 8, 1924 at Jane, Missouri the daughter of Milton and Ethel (Dobbs) Dopp. She attended school through her Junior year of high school at Stella High School at Stella, Missouri and graduated from High School in San Ramon, California. Ruby had moved to San Ramon to live with her sister, she babysat and work at the Café where her sister was employed.

Ruby married George Benson, Sr. August 17, 1941 at First Baptist Church in Reno, Nevada the couple both worked at the Bishop Ranch in San Ramon, California until late 1941 when the moved to Stanton. The couple farmed south of Stanton for a number of years. Ruby worked at "The Fountain" Café and "The Burger Shop" in Stanton. She worked as bookkeeper at Benson Farm Service for 5 years and later at the Stanton Nursing Home for a number of years as a cook in the kitchen. They moved into Stanton in 1982 and celebrated a 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1991 and their 60th at the Stanton Health Center in 2001.

Ruby's hobbies and interests include her knitting, crocheting, playing with her grandchildren, playing cards, teaching the grandkids how to play baseball, raising a garden, canning and cooking. She was a Member New England Congregational United Church of Christ – Stanton; Member American Legion Post #88 Auxiliary of Stanton; Member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter #146 and the Past Matron's of Stanton; Member of Butterfly Homemakers.

Ruby's Survivors include her 4 Sons: George, Jr. & Mary Benson of Stanton; Gary & LaVonne Benson of Stanton; Roger & Peggy Benson of Avoca, IA; Lonnie Benson of Stanton; 11 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren and 1 Sister Mary Beth Cisco of Buffalo, New York; 1 Sister-In-Law Ruth Anderson of San Jose, California.

Ruby is preceded In Death by her Parents; husband George, Sr. on September 29, 2005; 3 sisters Willa Dean Adkins, Mabel Henson and Donna Dopp; 2 Brothers a brother who died in infancy and Evelyn Dopp (yes this is correct spelling of his first name)
