Albert Karl Ernest Meyer, age 93 of Randolph, died Friday June 26, 2009 at Colonial Manor of Randolph. Albert was born at home in Pierce County to Fred W. Meyer and Emma (Doose) Meyer on November 11, 1915. Baptized November 28, 1915 and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church rural Hoskins. He attended rural school Pierce County District #39. On June 7, 1944, he married Madeline Lehmkuhl at the Methodist Church in Pierce, Nebraska. He was a farmer and cattle feeder on their farm in Wayne County until December 1977, when they moved into Randolph. He continued to farm for many years and was a cattle order buyer, buying calves for young farmers in the area. Going to the area cattle sales and visiting with the other cattleman was his biggest passion. He received an award from the Wayne County Farm Bureau in 1994 for being one of the oldest active farmers in Wayne County.
Albert celebrated his 90th birthday at home with family and friends shortly before entering Colonial Manor in July 2006. He and Madeline were members of St. John's Lutheran Church in Randolph since 1946. Albert served on the church council and other committees during that time.
He was survived by his wife of 65 years, Madeline; two sons, Roger and his wife, Roxanne, of Randolph; David and his wife, Patti, of Loveland, Colorado; one Grandson Jordan, of Randolph; two sisters, Doris Greeno, of Wausa and JoAnn Stratton of Safford, Arizona; two sisters-in-law, Lyleth (Sis) Meyer of Pierce; Eileen Meyer of Randolph; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Allan and Betty Lehmkuhl of Kearney, Nebraska; and nieces and nephews.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Marvin and Wilfred; Sisters Frances Thompson, Bernice Luebe and Irene Tietgen.
