Patrick E. Nelson, age 42 of Stanton, died Thursday April 30, 2009 at Stanton Health Center in Stanton. He was born December 26, 1966 at Norfolk the son of Timothy and Nona (Soverign) Nelson. He was a 1986 Graduate of Battle Creek High School.
Patrick joined the United States Navy serving from June 1986 to May 1987 with the rank of E3 serving in San Diego, California until he was medically discharged. He lived in Lincoln for 3 years and in 1991 moved to work at the Village Inn in Norfolk for 3 years, he became disabled in 1992. Patrick married Michele Smith on May 8, 1993 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk. The couple made their home in Stanton. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stanton. He died with a long history of medical problems.
Patrick is survived by his wife of 15 years, Michele Nelson of Stanton; 2 sons Christopher and Anthony Nelson of Stanton; Mother Nona Nelson of Fremont; 4 Brothers Richard and Toni Nelson of Asheboro, NC; John and Mirium Nelson of Wausa, NE; Tim, Jr. and Mari Nelson of Omaha; Bob and Jolene Nelson of Sioux Falls, SD; 3 Sisters Regina Wood of Fremont, NE; Kate and Tom Reeker of Norfolk; Grace Asmus of West Point, NE; Mother-In-Law Lou Smith of Stanton; several nieces and nephews.
Patrick was preceded in death by his father Tim Nelson in November 2006, Father-In-Law Merlyn A. Smith; Paternal and Maternal grandparents; Brothers-In-Law Harlan Asmus and Merlyn D. Smith; Uncle - Father Bernard Nelson.
