Clifford W. Galvin, age 89 of Randolph, died Saturday January 17, 2009 at Colonial Manor of Randolph. He was born April 25, 1919 in McLean, Nebraska the eldest son of William "Pat" and Martha (Schultz) Galvin. He was baptized September 7, 1919 by Rev. Melvin Richmond at the McLean Methodist Church. He attended the McLean Public School graduating as Valedictorian of the class of 1937. After graduation he helped his father at Galvin Implement until he was drafted in the United States Army in November 1941. Cliff was the first one drafted from Pierce County before our country was in war. He served his country 52 months being stationed in Abilene Proving Grounds, officers candidates school at the University of Louisiana, Maxwell Field, Montgomery Alabama and the last year he served in Japan. He received an honorable discharge on January 17, 1946. Upon his return home from the service, Cliff managed and owned IHC Implement Shop in Randolph for 48 years, retiring in 1987.

Clifford married Donna Bell Neubauer on August 12, 1951 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond. At this time the couple made their home in McLean and lived in the same house until Cliff entered the Colonial Manor of Randolph, after suffering a stroke in July 2003 and Donna Bell moved to assisted living at Colonial Manor in December of 2007.

Cliff was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church by the rite of Confirmation on April 6, 1952 confirmed by the Rev. Theo Westing. He served as a trustee and an elder at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He is a former member of the Randolph Community Club, The Lion's Club and Osmond Fire Department, serving for 35 years. He is a proud member of Alvin Kessler V.F.W. Post #5545 and a life member of American Legion Post #113 both of Randolph and Cliff especially enjoyed being a voyageur in 40& 8 Voiture 121 of Nebraska and served this organization as chef der gare and chaplain.

Cliff leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 57 years, Donna Bell Galvin of Randolph; 1 sister Ruth and Paul Smith of Ainsworth; brothers-in-law Delmer Neubauer of Osmond and Leo and Pat Neubauer of Centerville, Iowa; his Godchildren Brenda Bartels of Kearney; Cliff Tillema of Neligh and Jenny Hellbusch of Fullerton and several other nieces and nephews.
Clifford is preceded in death by grandparents, parents and his brother Donald Galvin.
