Freida M. Stevens, age 93 of Randolph, died Thursday January 15, 2009 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Randolph. She was born March 24, 1915 at Winside, Nebraska the daughter of Gustav and Louise (Pieper) Hilkemann. Freida was baptized on June 6, 1915 in Wayne County and attended Pierce County rural school, graduated Randolph High School in 1933 and Freida attended Wayne State Teachers College.

Freida taught school at a Pierce County District #28 and Cedar County District #38 rural schools. She married Harlan Stevens on her parents farm, near Pierce on May 27, 1936, the couple farmed in Pierce County, near Pierce until 1939 when they moved to farm in Wayne County near Randolph until the death of her husband, Harley, died in 1966. Freida continued living on the farm until 1980 when she moved to Randolph. She moved to Colonial Manor of Randolph on June 9, 2000 and was a lifetime member of United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women Society in Randolph, she was honored for 60 plus years of service to her church.

Freida is survived by her 5 children Gerald and Kay Stevens of Randolph; Delbert and Joyce Stevens of Randolph; Alvin and Karen Stevens of Omaha; Margery and Leland Johnson of Salt Lake City, UT; Susan and Walter Jensen of Norfolk; 11 Grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren; 5 Great Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother Harold and Mildred Hilkemann of Randolph.

Freida is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harlan in 1966, 1 grandson David Stevens; 1 Sister Mary Rudebusch; 3 Brothers Ervin, Herbert and Henry Hilkemann.

Date: Tuesday January 20, 2009 – 10:30 A.M.
Interment: Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery – Norfolk, NE
Minister: Rev. Samm Johnston
Visitation: 3 - 8 P.M. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home in Randolph.
