Glen A. Dowling, age 82 of Randolph, died Monday December 1, 2008 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. He was born March 28, 1926 at Hugo, Colorado the son of N. Herbert and Ruth (Axelson) Dowling. He attended Cedar County rural school - Pearl Creek District near Randolph. He farmed near Randolph and Carroll area, Glen was drafted on January 3, 1946 in the United States Army serving in World War II with the 34th Engineer Combat Battalion as a Tech 5th Grade and Discharged on January 25, 1947.

Glen married Orleta Vlasak on December 30, 1949 at Zion Congregational Church rural Carroll, NE. The couple continued farming near Randolph and Carroll until 1989 when they retired and moved to Randolph.

Glen was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church rural Carroll, American Legion Post #113 of Randolph, a long time 4-H member, Glen later served as a 4-H Leader of Allen Eastern 4-H Club for a number of years. He served on School Board of Pierce County District #39 near Randolph, served on Board of Directors of Farmers State Bank of Carroll, former Deacon at Zion Congregational Church at Carroll, Board of Director for Randolph Senior Citizens Center and belonged to a number of card clubs.

Glen is survived by his wife of 58 years, Orleta Dowling of Randolph and his 5 children Lynn and Karen Dowling of Randolph; Kathy and Randall Graham of Omaha; Carol and Larry Hans of Lincoln; Sharon and Michael Neuhalfen of Arlington; Michael and Carol Dowling of Randolph; 14 Grandchildren Jennifer Vrbka, Tony and Jim Dowling; Jeff, Dan and Andy Graham; Tim and Kelly Hans; Kristle Raile, Amanda and Scott Neuhalfen; Matthew, Bradley, Sarah Dowling. 7 Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother Vernon and Doris Dowling of Syracuse, NE; 2 Sisters-In-Law Una Siudzinski of Lincoln; Shirley and Ivan Gubbels of Randolph;

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister Lulu Rose and 2 Brothers Norton and Melvin Dowling.
