Daniel Paul Makousky, age 60 of Howells, died Thursday June 1, 2017 at Stanton Health Center in Stanton. He was born December 26, 1956 at Schuyler, Nebraska the son of Leonard and Frances (Klima) Makousky. He was a 1975 graduate of Clarkson High School and briefly attended Milford Technical School in Milford, NE. After leaving school he returned to farm with his parents.

He was longtime caretaker and sexton of Old Zion Presbyterian Cemetery near Howells. He was a member of New Zion Presbyterian Church near Clarkson. Dan enjoyed fishing on the Colorado River with his sister and brother-in-law and at his cousins cabin at Morse Bluffs, loved to hunt and going to farm sales, he also enjoyed driving around with his friends in the country crop checking.

Dan is survived by his mother Frances Makousky of Stanton; 3 Siblings Betty and Blain Batten of Waterloo, NE; Leonard and Denise Makousky of Bellevue, NE; Judy and David Evans of Desert Hot Springs, CA; 2 Nieces Ashley Batten of Waterloo, NE; Desirae and Jason Elders and their children Parker and Raegan of Omaha; 2 Step Nieces Holly Gould of Desert Hot Springs, CA; Ashley and Robert Moon of Las Vegas, NV; 1 Step-Nephew Brian Shommer of Norfolk and 1 Step-Niece Erin Draft of Bellevue, NE. 4 Step Grand Nieces Lauren and Allison Gould of Desert Hot Springs, CA; Madison and Katie Avery of Desert Hot Springs, CA.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Leonard.

Private GRAVESIDE Memorial Services: Saturday June 10, 2017 at Clarkson National Cemetery - Clarkson, NE under the direction of Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary in Stanton.
A public Celebration of Life at the Grain Bin at Howells, NE – Saturday June 10, 2017 - 1:00 – 4:00 P.M.
