Lambert J. Svitak, age 91 of Norfolk, formerly of Stanton, died Saturday June 22, 2013 at Norfolk Veterans Home in Norfolk. He was born October 24, 1921 at rural Stanton County, Nebraska the son of James and Rosie (Poyer) Svitak. He attended District #27 Stanton County rural school through the 8th Grade. He farmed from 1935 until entering the United States Army in October 1942 and he was discharged on April 2, 1949 serving overseas from February 1945 until March 1946 at Chabua, India. His rank was a Tech 5, Medical Technician and was with the 234th General Hospital. After discharged from military service he returned to farming

Lambert married Helen Lienemann on April 22, 1952 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norfolk, NE. The couple farmed until Lambert retired in 1987 and moved to Stanton. Lambert worked for Guardrite Security in Norfolk from 1984 to 2002. He performed building jobs for neighbors and family over the years. Lambert entered the Norfolk Veterans Home in February 2007.

Lambert was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Stanton; American Legion Post #155 and The Last Man Club, of Howells; he was a member of Knights of Columbus of Stanton.

Lambert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen Svitak of Norfolk; 2 Sons Douglas and Ardith Svitak of Howells; Eugene and Kay Svitak of Dodge; 4 Daughters Pamela and Dan Fuerhoff of Norfolk; Diane and Myron Hassler of Stanton; Paula and Scott Swenson of Oakland; Betty and Keith Vering of Howells; 16 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; 3 Brothers Vernon Svitak of Mesa, Arizona; Raymond Svitak of Norfolk; Edward Svitak of Howells.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters.

Date: Wednesday June 26, 2013 – 10:30 A.M.
Interment: St. Henry Cemetery – rural Howells, NE
Military Rites: American Legion Post # 155, Howells, NE.
Minister: Rev. Father Jerry Connealy, Stanton, Nebraska
Visitation: 3-8 P.M. Rosary: 7:30 P.M. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Stanton NE under the direction of Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary of Stanton.
