Dale S. Cunningham, age 91 of Norfolk formerly of Randolph, died Friday August 17, 2012 at the Norfolk Veterans Home. He was born November 5, 1920 at Randolph, Nebraska the son of William and Nina (Caster) Cunningham. He attended Cedar County rural school near Randolph and in 1999 was awarded a high school diploma. He entered the United States Navy during World War II serving from April 21, 1945 to September 17, 1946.

Dale married Jane "Betty" Dowling on January 14, 1951 at the Presbyterian Church in Randolph. The couple farmed, milked cows, fed cattle and hogs for 31 years with Dale's brother Boyd. After he retired from farming he worked at Jerry's Hilltop for over 25 years. He was a 50+ year member of United Methodist Church in Randolph; served as Treasurer of Cedar County District #115 for many years; a charter member of Randolph Senior Center; member of V.F.W. Alvin Kessler Post #5545 and member of American Legion Post #113 of Randolph; Officer in the Town Twirlers Square Dance Club of Laurel; Dale's hobbies include his love of fishing, playing cards, he was an avid Husker Football fan, milked many cows over the years, like to do his gardening.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jane "Betty" Cunningham of Norfolk;
3 children Sheila and Craig Swanson of Omaha; Nancy and Eugene Jensen of Winside; Jim and Kathy Cunningham of Norfolk;
8 Grandchildren Larry and Kelly Schutt of Hoskins; Robert Schutt and friend Katie of Randolph; Donald Schutt and friend Shawna of Randolph; Shauna and Ted Randall of Lincoln; Jenna Cunningham and friend Tyler of Las Vegas, NV; Cheryl Swanson of Omaha; Jared Cunningham of Norfolk; Tiffany and Dan Shimonsky of Lompoc, CA;
6 Great Grandchildren Britanie Randall, Braydon Randall Brylee Randall all of Lincoln and Gavin Schutt, Hadleigh Schutt, Aftyn Schutt all of Hoskins;
8 Sisters Vera Remington of Yankton, SD; Eva Dowling of Idaho; Leila and LeRoy Brummels of Wayne; Flo Lenzen of Laurel; Audrey and George Hinrich of Laurel; Wilma Wiemer of Laurel; Alice and John Moehlenhoff of Creighton; Doris and Bill Dowling of Hastings; and 1 Sister-In-Law Ellen Cunningham of Bloomfield; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Boyd Cunningham; 4 sisters Velma Dowling, Aulda Cunningham, Helen Burgel, Irma Remington.
