Sandra S. Dahlkoetter, age 62 of Stanton, died Saturday March 6, 2010 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. She was born May 12, 1947 at Corinth, Mississippi the daughter of James and Marcella (Stark) Whitehurst. She met Terry Dahlkoetter at Stanton High School where at first she hated his guts, but after getting to know one another they became friends, which developed into love. They were married in July of 1968.
She received her Bachelor's and later Master's degrees in Elementary Education from Wayne State College. Sandra taught at Stanton Country School, Stanton Elementary in Stanton and Northern Hills Elementary in Norfolk. Her passion for teaching touched numerous lives over her lifetime. In 1989, Sandra was honored with one of many teaching awards over the duration of her career. At one time she said she would teach 11 months out of the year if someone else would do the "boring" paperwork. She was a gifted and compassionate educator, respected and loved by students, parents, and colleagues alike.
In October of 1978, she became a born again Christian and had been a dedicated member of Harvest Church. Sandra & Terry's wedded bliss lead them to adopt three children in 1990. God grew this family in her heart instead of her womb and each is grateful to Him for it. Sandra was a member of the National Education Association; Stanton VFW Auxiliary; Stanton Historical Society; Phi Delta Kappa; Goren Seven Bridge Club
Sandra is survived by her husband of 41 years Terry Dahlkoetter of Stanton; 3 children Christy Sue & Michael Clay, Norfolk; Kenney James Dahlkoetter, Stanton; Clifford Lee Dahlkoetter, Stanton; 5 grandchildren, 2 Siblings Barbara Wittgow, Stanton; James & Marva Whitehurst, Norfolk and numerous nieces and nephews.
