John E. Meyer, Jr., age 82 of Randolph, died Monday March 1, 2010 near Randolph. He was born July 1, 1927 at Randolph, Nebraska the son of John, Sr. and Viola (Colling) Meyer. He graduated from St. Frances Catholic High School in 1945.
John married Dorothy Gubbels on July 20, 1948 at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph and the couple farmed west of Randolph until 1956 when they moved to farm south of Randolph near Sholes, he held a great passion for farming and raising cattle. In John's younger days he loved playing fast pitch softball and later he and wife Dorothy enjoyed golfing for a number of years. John was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph.
John is survived by his 2 children Ronald and Kathi Meyer of Randolph; Karen and Irvin Wattier of LaVista, NE; 8 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren; 6 brothers and sisters Shirley Schmit of Randolph; Norma and Willis "Butch" Stueckrath of Randolph; Dolores and Frank Sattler of Boise, ID; Ed and Mary Lou Meyer of Scottsdale, AZ; Elmer and Sherry Meyer of Randolph; Vince and Vonnie Meyer of Randolph and Friend Betty Wattier of Randolph.
John is preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy and 1 brother Earl Meyer.
