Peggy Jo Pinkston Flood was born on August 9, 1942 to Ellis and Betty Lou (Hoepner) Pinkston in Evansville, IN. She attended school in Indiana and later in Texas after her mother passed away in 1951. She was then raised by her stepmother Helen who was married to her father in 1952. They moved from Texas to Nebraska in 1957.

Peggy married Leroy Tunison on January 12th 1959 and to this union two children were born, Theresa and Thomas Tunison. Leroy passed away on August 26 1960. Peggy married Collins Richard Flood in Grand Island Nebraska on February 9th 1962. They made their home in Trumbull Nebraska and had four children while living there, Corey, Lisa, Monica and Jeffrey. In 1974 they moved to Okreek, South Dakota. In 1975 their youngest child Stacey was born. That following year they moved to Stanton, Nebraska where she resided until her death.

Peggy was a fulltime housewife taking care of her children until 1977 when she went to work at the Stanton Nursing Home. She continued to stay involved with Nursing Home activities throughout her life. She started out as a C N A and then became certified and passed medications. She enjoyed her job and was always passionate about helping people in any way she could. In 1988 she started employment at the Norfolk Veterans Home and worked both jobs until becoming disabled in 1990.

Peggy continued to do many volunteer jobs in the community. She helped at the Nursing Home playing piano at sing along and for the church services there and helped with other activities. She also volunteered at the Salvation Army and Graces Closet. Peggy was a member of Heartland Baptist Church in Norfolk, NE, and played piano during services, she was a member of Stanton V.F.W. Auxiliary. Peggy was always willing to do everything she could to make a difference in life. She enjoyed her many grand kids and great grandkids, playing piano, crocheting, visiting on the computer, playing bingo and her many dogs, especially Sammy. She also was a big racing fan loading as many grandkids as she could in her car and going to Riviera Raceway in Norfolk and watching Jeff Gordon religiously on Sunday afternoons.

Peggy Jo entered into rest at her home on February 3rd, 2010 at the age of 67. She is survived by her husband Collins Flood and her seven children, Theresa and Mike Thrasher of Burlington, IA. Thomas and Andrea Tunison of Stanton, NE; Corey Flood of Norfolk, NE; Lisa Flood of Valentine, NE; Monica and Andrew Hessner of Snyder, NE; Jeffrey and Jennifer Flood of Stanton, NE; and Stacey Flood and her friend Jeremy Gill of Stanton, NE; 25 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren; 9 brothers and sisters: Rebekah and Dan Nichols of Overton, NE; Deborah and Dick Ahlman of Stanton, NE; David and Jan Pinkston of Leigh, NE; Ruth and Russ Newkirk of Overton, NE; Beth and Ed Hendrix of Stanton, NE; Joe and Patty Pinkston of Norfolk, NE; Sarah and Tim Mandl of Memphis, TN; Charles and Penny Carlton of Houston, TX; 3 sister-in-laws Katie Pinkston of Leigh; Jeanette Damon of Mission, SD; and Maybelle Dixon of Okreek, SD; 1 brother-in-law Delmar Flood of Okreek, SD.

Peggy Jo was preceded in death by her Parents, Stepmother, Mother and Father-in-law, 1 Brother, 2 Brother-in-laws and 1 Grandson.
