Jack Gregory Reed, age 61 of Omaha, formerly of Randolph died Sunday January 24, 2010 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha. He was born February 13, 1948 at Norfolk, Nebraska the son of Jack and Lillian (Stamm) Reed. He graduated in 1966 from Randolph High School in Randolph and entered the United States Navy during the Vietnam War on June 1, 1966 serving until he was discharged on April 15, 1969 having served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam.
Jack Gregory worked as heavy equipment operator in road construction for Abel Const., Leiting Const. and Heeley Construction and drove a gravel truck for his dad for a short time. He worked for a number of years at "Daddy Jacks" his parents' bar and bowling alley in Randolph. On March 23, 1985 he married Judy (Meyer) Braden at Yankton, SD, the couple made their home in Omaha where he worked in Road Construction business with Varana and Andrus Construction until 2002. He worked at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha in the transportation department. He enjoyed his dogs Franky and Harley and doing yard work and gardening.
Jack Gregory Reed was a member of Local #571 Teamsters Union in Omaha, a member of V.F.W. in Omaha and past member of Alvin Kessler V.F.W. Post #5545 in Randolph.
Jack Gregory is survived by his wife of 24 years, Judy Reed of Omaha; 1 daughter Sarah Jo Reed of Omaha; Mother Lillian Reed of Randolph; 2 Step Daughters Nikki Gerdes of Pierce and Jakki Braden of Long Beach, CA; 2 Grandchildren Travis Gerdes of Randolph and Courteny Gerdes of Lincoln; 4 sisters and 1 brother – Claudia and Virgil Schultz of Plainview; Shelley and Larry Tramp of Lincoln; Connie and Gail Van Slyke of Eagle, NE; Bette and Tony Walz of Randolph; Mike and Stephanie Reed of Lincoln; 8 nieces and 4 nephews.
Jack Gregory Reed is preceded in death by his father, Jack.
