Marlen A. Boldt, age 61 of Stanton, died on Saturday December 12, 2009 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. He was born August 23, 1948 to August Robert Ludwig Boldt and Ella Leona Villnow Boldt at the Lutheran Hospital in Norfolk, NE. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stanton and later transferred to Faith Lutheran Church in Stanton.

In 1966 he graduated from Stanton High School and in December of 1967, joined the United States Army, serving in Viet Nam, he was honorably discharged, July 1969.

December 4, 1971, Marlen married Brenda Lee Forsch of Norfolk, Nebraska at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. To this union were blessed two children, Jennifer Kristine and Brandon August.

Marlen farmed until the early 90's when, after his farm sale, he worked for Mid American Dairy, and later, drove truck for ten years for Pilger Sand and Gravel. He was currently a truck driver for Central Sand and Gravel. Marlen was a Life Member of Stanton V.F.W. Post #3602 and member of Farm Bureau.

Marlen is survived by his wife, Brenda, daughter, Jennifer Boldt of Urbandale, IA; son Brandon Boldt of Norfolk and a granddaughter, Mathisen Jo Boldt, of Tilden, who was Marlen's"faithful" companion. Four Brothers, La Vaughn and wife, Arlyce Boldt of Norfolk; Delwyn and wife, Pat of Upland, NE; Robert and wife, Karen of Norfolk; nieces, nephews, family members, friends and fellow Vets.

Marlen was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, in infancy, and his special army buddy, Robert Spellmeier of Robinson, Kansas. Memorials directed to Stanton V.F.W. Post #3602.

Interment: Stanton Cemetery – Stanton, NE
Visitation: 3-8 P.M. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church in Stanton; Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary in Charge of Arrangements
